Trademark shoes SS17

Nearly a year ago, Louisa and Pookie Burch, founders of cult-brand Trademark, announced they would no longer be offering clothing as part of their brand. And their Grand St. store closed soon after. It was a surprisingly self-aware move from a brand who had support in the industry. Their dad is C. Wonder founder Chris Burch, and Tory Burch’s ex-husband. While Trademark’s ready-to-wear wasn’t exactly my style, I liked the straight-forward clothing, and I loved the shoes. The name Trademark was no mistake – the sisters wanted to make classic and beautiful clothes at a price point they could afford. Preppy, well-tailored, and un-fussy separates set the brand apart from it’s contemporaries in a quirky and modest way. When they announced the end of their ready-to-wear collection, the brand would continue to design accessories and shoes available through their e-commerce and loyal retailers. Spring 2017 was the first accessories-only offering from the sisters and it proves the women really narrowed their focus. Mules dominate the styles – some with bows, pom poms, feathers, and a highly covetable pair of leather criss-cross slip on sandals. Many of the shoes are like a more affordable The Row. The jewelry and bags are good too. I think Trademark’s website still needs some sorting out as the new collection isn’t available yet and takes users straight to their Shop Spring page where Fall 2016 is featured. You can find the new collection here and here.
